Humidity issues driving me to drink

But seriously. For all the years I have been building here in the high desert of west Texas I have never needed a dehumidifier for more than a day or two at a time. However this year believe it or not with just 2 1/2 weeks into May we are with in just a couple inches of our annual rain fall. eight inches of it with in the last month. The average humidity in my shop over the past 10 weeks has been 80%+. Normally having to deal with low humidity I do not have humidifier.

Last spring I had 3 weeks like this but was all settled in after April but this entire winter and spring have been really humid. To the point I guess I will buy a dehumidifier, because I have lost many weeks of work

I feel your pain, Michael. However, I'll bet the blooming period and greening of the desert is beautiful!

The best news for us is that you're posting again! Since you've been absent, I had to finish 3 FP'ed guitars without your help of comments. Fortunately, I had your help on the first one last summer!!!

MIchael,
As long as you don't keep the pieces out in that humidity for more than a
few hours - I bet you could still get some work done without any
detriment to your guitars. Assuming the high humidity streak will end
soon, you could save yourself a $100 on something that you won't use
often.

That is the issue. I have no wood room to speak of. and my house would be no better. We just don't use dehumidifiers out here in the desert. Infact to get one I have to order it in. The folks at my local Carrier supply company thought I was nut when I checked on price.
