I'm bending my second cutaway side and I'm using a solid piece in my form for the cutaway. After the bend I am fooling around so long with clamps that the sides cool and I have to go back to the pipe. Does anyone have pictures of their sides, with a cutaway, braced in the form? I don't like bending the cutaway on a side bender and prefer to bend on a pipe. Thanks Clinton

One as soon as I remove any side from my bending machine. I measure and cut off access lenght of the cutaway end and butt end as soon as it comes out of the bending process. This takes about 2 min. Then I clamp into place in an assembly mold using UB spreader, Waist spreader and LB Spreader. The whole process from out of the bender to clamped in the mold is less than 4-6 min per side. Some times I do this while it is still warm. but most offen the wood has set in the bending form over night prior to removing.

Todd thanks for that picture.I just went thru this situation and I have to do it for another guitar and that will make it a lot easier. Why didn`t I think of that?
