Hey everyone, I'm travelling to N. Colorado, everyone is off to ASIA, but I'd like to visit at least one luthier on this trip.

We are on the road, accessing internet along the way. I'll check back. Spent the night at Cheney State Park west of Wichita Kansas last night. Flooded due to recent rains.

Colorado eh? How long are you in town? I am busy packing up the house as we are in the process of moving a few miles down the road. My shop will be expanding to almost 1000sq. ft so it is a good thing! Perhaps we could still get together though depending on how long you will be here. 720-352-8647

Robbie and Tracy, I came back through Denver at 2 PM. That after a cross state run from Estes Park to Greeley and back down through Denver to Wasenburg, Colorado in the South. It was 2PM and I knew you guys were working on that project together.

Enjoyed the phone conversation, especially Tracy's follow-up try, I was crossing into Texas Monday. We had a good 20 minute visit. My son, 14, and driver, was experiencing a bit of homesickness..... He made me pass up Taos and Santa Fe to get him home.....

I learned of Michael Bashkin, as I talked to you guys, and also another luthier in Colorado Springs. We did Pike's Peak there, what a TRIP up a hill! No guardrails, what were they thinking? 14,110 FT. above sea level....

I probably passed a bunch of other luthiers too, my laptop battery died and we were camping, so no power. One luthier we didn't miss was Dave Rector. He took in house and shop guests at 8PM, what a long day. We finally got back into Arkansas at 1:30 AM.

Colorado/New Mexico/Texas, Oklahoma, and Arkansas in 16 hours. JP slept last night in his bed. I slept 2 1/2 hours then went to a court settlement of an estate thirty miles away...... uggghhh! I'm beat.

Somewhere in the middle of Arkansas......

Dave patiently awaited our arrival. His home is incredibly beautiful. The seperate shop is air conditioned and well outfitted for luthierie. Thank you Dave for your hospitality. He showed us all his stash, works in progress, spectialty tooling. I asked specifically to see his StewMac Fret Nippers which he gladly demonstrated, and suggested filing a tad as well. What a nice job it does.



JP is manning the Nikon, sorry Dave..... This is the guitar with the damaged top. Router bit came loose as he was making the neck extension cavity.....
It was enough to make a grown man cry, especially a luthman...., painful, very painful....



Dave and I in a wider shot of the shop. It was great seeing Dave now for the third time. Nothing like seeing a builder in his own shop. Dave, thanks for hosting us for the quick visit.

Bruce, glad you made it home safely! Anita and I were a little worried about you two after all the driving you had already done.

You can stop by anytime you are in the neighborhood. I still have good memories of our get-together at your place last year. OLFers just seem to get along great for some reason.
