Well thanks Zootman for some mighty fine zoot. To me this is one of the most striking guitars I have built. If you ever get any more of that B & W ebony, I will take it!!!!! Thanks Hesh for inspiring me to build and LOO. I love that black top Tiger guitar

Even though I just set it up I am extremely happy with the tone of this little guitar. Very full sound. Amazing bottom end.   Far superior to the parlor I built. (No comparison - Thanks Ervin) This might be my everyday guitar!!!!!

Just build them light and let the back contribute!!!!!!!!!

Here are the specs::
L-OO 24.9 scale 14 fret. (My own bracing design)
Backs and Sides - BW Ebony from the Zootman
Top - Lutz of course...from Shane
Ebony fretboard binding and headplate
Black and White MOP rosette - Andy DePaule
Dogprint Soundport
Ebony bridge. My first of this design.
Gotoh Delta Chrome Mini Tuners
Tony's spectacular finish.

Ker-ching! That's a good one!
When I get some free time to work on something new, the L-00 is on my list. I think it's a really attractive body shape. You did it good.

So I just said to my wife,"man look at that wood", in reference to your guitar. She replied, "ug, I don't like it, it looks like bad paneling". Man, what's this world coming to?

Nothing short of spectacular. Impressive, indeed.

A real winner! Congrats. It looks great and glad to hear it sounds great. All of the stylistic elements came together well. I like that the neck lamination echos the black and white (light/dark) ebony color theme.

I like the bridge design...talk about your saddle...how wide is it? It looks like you have compensated it well both for height and scale compensation but was surprised to see how wide the saddle is. I feel it gives more room for compensation but others may feel it is a little wide...I dont if the sound works.

Wow, Doc, that is spectacular!!!! Absolutely beautiful. Love your fret markers.

Paul...well beauty is in the eye of the beholder. It is certainly different. I am
sure your wife won't be alone with that take.
Shawn - Lately I have been making all of my saddles 3/16th in width. This
give me plenty of room for compensation. Also once I fine the
compensation point I can have it gently curve back to the bridge pins. I like
an abrupt drop off at the soundhole end and a smooth drop off at the bridge
pin end.
So far this one is not full compensated yet. The top point at the saddle of
each string position is stil a bit wide. This give me a bit of room to file it
forward or backwards as do the final intonation. I will wait about a week or
two.

Hesh - The L-OO is such a nice size. Not too small and certainly not to
large. The more I look at the size, the lower bout is not that much smaller
than my OOO/OM. A tigher waist and a smaller upper bout. My impression
is that the upper bout doesn't contribute that much to the overall sound and
size of the box. Most upper transverse braces and neck blocks pretty much
dampen out the movement of the top in that region.   So you can make a
smaller guitar without losing too much real estate in the vibrating top!!!

Just my opinion.....

My set shrunk quite a bit as it dried and aged. By the time it settled I could
only use it for a smaller guitar. I am glad I did

Wow! That is impressive.
I'm planning to make one these with the plans from MIMF.Did you vary the bracing alot from Gibson's L-00.I was thinking I may need to use a darker sounding back and side wood due to the small size of the instrument. I'm probably wrong though. I'll be interested to hear your opinions on this one after it's been played a while.

My bracing was similar to Marks plans from the MIMF. I adjusted it a bit.
Still with one finger brace on each side. Below the X my design was a bit
different. I don't scallop my braces. As far as a darker sounding back, I am
not sure what you mean. I thinned my back to 0.08 allowing it to contribute
to the tone and not act as a reflector.

The fit and finish on this guitar is excellent, the style, detail and wood combinations all fit very well. This guitar is clear evidence of just how quickly your skills as a builder have developed since your first. Not that there was anything wrong with your first, it is just that this one is immaculate.

What are the neck lamination on this one??
