I have a set of Goncalo Alves I need resawned into back and sides. Its about 1" thick and already cut into the backs and sides shape just needs to be sliced. Unfortunately my saw is not large enough.

Can anyone do that for me? ( for a fee of course!)

The closer to me the better....

   Peter, My saws too small too! There's a old style hardware store down the street from me called Pick's here in the SoCal they resaw pretty cheap. There's also Heppner but I've never dealt with them.

    As you live in Westminister you might try a decent lumber yard around you. I'm sure there's somebody close!

I out of curiosity What kind of saw. If you do it on a band saw how big is it and what kind of blade do you use? I'm toying with the idea of slicing up some wood I have laying around. I have a 16" band saw and I'm wondering if it's possible.

I can't imagine there isn't a mill or cabinet shop real close that could do this for twenty bucks or so. You're going to have schmooze someone, but you can do it !!!

If you are going to ship it you might try Dave Borson. His surface requires very little sanding and he takes a narrow kerf.

I'll second Dave Borson for the resawing. He is in Fort Bragg, California - so he's relatively close to you. He can get about 8 clean pieces per 1.25". He is expensive but it pays for itself when you end up with more back and side sets.

John, How thick are the 8 pieces you could get out of 1.25"? Does he use something other than a bandsaw to cut the pieces? Even if you cut each piece no surfacing loss at .125". That would leave .25" for blade loss on 6 cuts(something like .04"). I have never been able to get that smooth and tight with a bandsaw(my woodslicers get me close, but not that good). If he is using a band saw I would really like to know what he is using for blades(that kind of low loss cutting would be outstanding to be able to achive).
