Sitka Top and Mahogany back, sides, and binding. Mahogany rosette with some other rosette around that one. Every piece of this guitar, with the exception of the tuners, fretwire, nut, saddle, and outer rosette were made by hand from square lumber. Satin finish and it plays very nice. The nearly complete refers to frets 13-19 not being installed. I made many mistakes and it is far from perfect but here are some pics...

Sounds great.... very deep and throaty is how I would describe it... not as loud as I had hoped but I believe that to be from my bracing or the fact that it is 1/2 shallower than my design called for... my philosophy in anything crafty like that is... 1st try: Make mistakes, learn from them 2nd try: Make mistakes you were luck enough to avoid on the first try 3rd try: Now you know it all so get in a hurry and really f*** things up 4th try: perfection! |

I'm still on my first. So far, mistakes have been overcomeable, but the learning process is HUGE! |

warrdamneagle Id say good job for your first - but as you say mistakes are inevitable, but so is becoming much a better luthier in the process, so 6 of one................1/2 dozen of the other Id be very pleased with your effort if I were you,, & Im sure it will open up and sound even better with age.

Hmmm, I am on my 5th and so far, no perfection, not even close. Either I am a slow learner or your list needs some fine tuning!  Oh, and your guitar looks beautiful. Great job! |

War, I see your Air Force signatory. My son insisted on a detour into the Air Force Academy at Colorado Springs. You can see the B52 Bomber from the interstate. We turned around and went back. Are you Air Force? My brother was Navigator on C-130 Cargo Planes in the 70's. The academy has been there awhile, college level training, plus some flight training, gliders one and all...... I'd like to try that. We saw one Teeshirt, "The Warthog", When it absolutely, positively, has to be destroyed, overnight!

| Looks sweet
For future posting; it helps if you place each picture on a separate line. this cause them to stack vertically as apposed to horizontally. This makes reading you post easier with less horizontal scrolling. |

I will commission as a second Lt. next spring and I am going into the Space and Missiles field... As for the Warthog... I can only dream to fly this piece of art someday.. It is what I aspire to do. I was not lucky enough to get a pilot slot in ROTC but hopefully, once I am active duty, then I will be able to get my slot and be able to fly the A-10. |
