Wow....thats exactly what I said when I saw mine. The quality of the magazine.... paper, construction, articles.... all speak for themselves. A big thanks to Lance and Brock for making this part of our subscription to the OLF. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Fretboard Journal almost surpasses categorization as a magazine. It's almost like getting a quarterly tabletop book. Issue 5 was just outstanding - every article was good enough to be the lead article in any magazine. I'm looking forward to reading number 6 soon - so far I've only had a chance to glance through it. |

I'm still daydreaming about being able to build 2 guitars (BRW and Ziricote) in a full equipped shop along side a professional builder.....(See the "Dreaming the Build" article on P44) A great publication - many thanks! Laurie |
Got mine too! Did anyone find the Gourd Banjo made by Pete Ross interesting? Robert
Extremely so. The best part of this issue. Among other things, it makes a great case for how the banjo deserves far more respect than it often gets. Banjo bashers, begone! |

(I was talking about the article, not Pete Ross' banjo itself; the banjo is awesome, too.) |

I got my copy of the magazine today. I thought it was very elegant, the layout and photos were beautifully tidy and easy on the eyes compared to many of the glossy guitar mags out there. I agree with Todd R., the banjo article was very interesting. The fretless gourd banjo pictured was so elegant, did you notice the tailpiece attachment? Neat! I'm not sure what kind of the niche this publication tries to fill, or exacly who they want to reach tho. Sure, it says on the cover that it is for "Musical instrument players, coillectors and builders", but that is a very diverse group of people. How can you write in-depth articles that all of these people find in interesting, and does not just cover the basics in this broad field? After reading the first issue I have a feeling they will be covering a lot of old ground for many people. But hey, it is always nice to look at nice photos of guitars! |
