When I put the zpoxy on my guitar, I used a bondo applicator to take it off. This creates lap marks. The next day, I sanded just to make things level. I am not able to get the "lap" marks out unless I go to bare wood or perhaps just below the zpoxy. This will undo the filling process.

Should I ignore these? Will these just disappear when I spray KTM-9?

I dont mean to steal your thread, but I am wondering what kind of Z-poxy you are using? I know there is a 5 minute, 30 minute, and I believe a longer one...

which one is best?

It's the Finishing Resin that is used for pore filling. I'm with Michael, for me the Z-poxy is just a pore filler, I want it only in the pores not all over the wood, so I sand back to bare wood, then start in with the shellac.

I'm pretty sure they are talking about "Z-poxy Finishing Resin", you can read about it and how to apply it at LMI's site. We have been over this many times here, and contrary to LMI's description it can be sanded back to wood as Todd mentions, that is how I like to use it. I'm not sure how fast it sets, I like to wait a day before I sand back and start applying a finish over it and it seems to work well.

Yep sand back to wood leaving the Zpoxy only in the pours. It is a pour filler not a sealer or finish then mix a batch of 60% alcohol and 40% Zpoxy together and VERY VERY lightly rag on with a lint free cloth. This should be near water thin. if it starts to jell throw out and make an other batch. This will even the color every where but leave no real film depth. When cured over night you can put a tooth to it lightly with 400p but not really needed if you seal it with shellac prior to any other finish is applied.

When you guys say, "Sand back to the wood", how do you kow you are there? I did a litle sanding and the dust was the color of my back (EIR).....am I there?

Also, this is only my second fill. On both jobs, I never know when I am done filling. How do you when you are done?
