Filippo- I took a course (just finished) with Sergei deJonge and they use these around the shop. They have one of the GuitarJigs models like the one in your pic and some others they made on site. I understand that the original design was by Jean Larrivee, but I may have that wrong. Building one is on my 'list'- I grabbed a few rough dimensions which I will dig out in the next few days. (I just arrived home after a cross-country drive.) Send me a pm as a reminder if I don't follow up in the next few days! Cheers John |

I have the pipe-clamp type 'guitar vise' in my shop, and I was dubious about the merits of the Trojy-style when I first saw them at deJonge's - they do take up floor space. However, it is very handy to be able to approach the guitar from any side, something you can't easily do with the 'guitar vise'. When sanding/scraping sides, for example, it's useful to be able to approach the body 'from the end'. So I think I'm a convert to the Trojy system- except for the name...anybody know where that came from? Cheers John |

Filippo, Actually, I was contacted by Mark Kett, and he really liked my Radius Dishes, and asked if he can send his customers to me. I also asked if I could reproduce his binding jig, and he said it was okay, but my partner didn't want to get into turning aluminum. However, I have one of the Trojy's, and I'm considering contacting Mark again to see if we can produce this jig for him, and be a reseller. I'll let you know what he says. If it is a go, then we can start producing these in the next few months. Regards, Tracy |

First, some pics of a 'well-used' example: 
You can see the main details, I think...note the spring-type hinges (for slamming those screen doors) and the 'shelf' with the threaded rod (the coarser the better) below. Basic construction is 3/4 plywood with doublers. Approximate dimensions in inches: Base is 24 inches square- this looks larger than in the photo originally posted in this thread. Perhaps with use a larger base was found to be an improvement? It is handy to stand on when you are working as it aids stability. Height 36 Width 16 Distance between upright panels- approx 8 inches 'Shelf' approx 5" wide Shelf approx 14 inches down from top ('lower bout' edge) Foam is about 2" thick Hope this helps! Hopefully somebody with more computer drafting skill will draw up some plans. Cheers John |

I look forward to bringing all of the GuitarJigs designs to the soundsalon.com">Sound Salon website, as soon as the articles are complete. While still "in business", I am focusing on my guitars, inlay work, and my amazing son. I started soundsalon.com">Sound Salon, to enable me (and anyone else interested) to contribute to the luthier community. I am actually in the middle of writing the Trojy article right now, and will post it in the next week. Lots of "step by step photos". The first Trojy design was by Jean Larrivee, and later re-designed by Sergei de Jonge, and shortly thereafter modified by me. Mark Kett |

I'm not so sure my partner wants to make these, but if so, I'll contact you first, as I think you should get a piece of the profit. In addition, all credit will go to you, and the founding fathers of this wonderful jig.
