the fruits of a slow and very enjoyable journey so far

and thanks to all the forum members ....for sharing your knowledge and insight..I find myself spending 3 hours reading to 1 hour building just getting all perspectives and possibilities before deciding on what I think will suit what I'm after.

The back is quite stiff at the moment and i was shooting for a bit looser. I might sand it a bit thinner especially out towards the rims after the top is on....but tapping it produces a long low sustaining note in the lower bout which i am pleased with. Hearing this gives me a severe case of "I want to hear it now" syndrome .and i have to stop myself from rushing the rest of the build.

The back support strip and side support strips we're made from offcuts of the sides.....
So far I'm really happy with the way its turning out....

Looks good Grant!! Is that EIR? How long has it been since you started building? Keep up the good work!!!

How far along on the top are you? Do have any idea when you'll be closing up the box?

Doesn't matter about the length of time, it's the quality that counts!

And from what I can see from here, your work is extremely clean and neat!!

Really nice clean work!  Don't worry about how long it takes, just enjoy the ride.  You will have plenty of time once it is done to play it as well as thinking about what you want to build next.

I assume that it is EIR, and a beautiful set of EIR at that.  I also like that you used matching wood for your back strip.  A nice and classy touch!

thanks for the encouragement everyone...
Chansen :- yes EIR ...and was the best grade I could get...very straight grain....haven't started the top , but I will get a start on it in the next week

Toddstock..I have deliberated over whether to use the spruce top or the cedar top i have......and have always loved the cedar Steel strings i have picked up so I'm leaning towards that ...but most builders i talk to don't like it?

Davidmor.....Thanks...I like the look of the rosewood backstrip and side supports as well and it uses up the scrap from the sides as well

Very neat and clean looks to the guitar so far. Looks like you are off to a good head start. I like the idea of using the cut off portions for the back strap also.
