There were 2 threads blocked this week. I'm a bit perplexed by what happened and why??? I'd like to know more...and perhaps other members would like an explanation as well. What gives and why were they blocked? 1) The first thread to be blocked was the one regarding French Polish and hardeners. The self-described rant regarding the "abuse" of the edit button was understood and reluctantly accepted. What wasn't understood was why the thread was blocked and relegated to the Archives without any explanation or rationale. 2) The second thread that was blocked was a posting and picture of recently acquired BRW pyramid bridges that were made for Tony Karol by John Watkins. Tony initiated the thread and only his original post was allowed before being blocked. This was really weird and I can't imagine why he was censored. As a charter member of the OLF I feel justified in being so bold as to ask why. This is our forum...many of us pay to support its existence and should have a say in how we feel we are being served. I happened to be very interested in both of those threads and feel offended that they were axed! So maybe I'm alone in this and maybe not. And just as I agree that we members need to maintain a code of conduct so too do I feel that our host needs to maintain similar standards. So I'm just going to sit back and wait for the explanation that should have been made at the same time the threads were buried without warning. TIA |

Right on JJ!! Hear! Hear! I was wondering the very same thing myself. Tony Karol posted a thread praising the service and quality of merchandise he received from John Watkins and that thread was pulled straight away... What the heck? I've seen these kinds of threads praising our sponsors almost every day. Why was this one sensored? So am I to take it that the next time I receive some merchanside from one of our very fine and paying sponsors I should abstain from taking pictures and posting a 'thank you and job well done' thread? If I were a sponsor, I'd be livid... This place seems to have taken a somewhat dictatorial turn as of late. |

an other questions is do some of use have edit buttons? if so what did I do to deserve loosing mine? If not how could he have edited it in the first place? I was away from the forum when the ability to edit was removed.(at least from me). I did not know what brought it on. But the way I see it the poster never had the opportunity to edit it. He just hit the post button before he typed his post. That or it got edited out by Brock or Lance as fast as he posted. I have no issue living by the rules but these question are out there and an answer maybe would classify the issue for all of us. |

I didn't read the FP thread at all. But I did wonder why Tony's was locked. In fact I was going to type a "cool bridges, you'll be busy for awhile" type response only to find it locked. Very strange. |

The FP thread was an old thread that, somehow, had been brought back from the archives.. I don't know how, but it seems that the poster had, don't ask me how, deleted the text of the post, or had somehow brought it back to the main discussion area from the Sound Salon area where posts can be edited. I'm really not sure which. But, it was a thread from back in the middle of May. I too wondered about the other one. I couldn't see a reason for someone not showing the good work they received from one of our sponsors. But, then, I wondered if it was moved to the archives by accident when the other thread was being moved, and it just wasn't noticed. Being pretty new, and having posted to the FP thread without reading the date, I didn't say anything. |
