This guitar just went out to a very happy (I'm relieved to say) customer. He's one of the picky ones, who can hear things that normal mortals can't. You know, rattles, squeaks, buzzes, odd notes, off-tuning, you name it. It was a nerve-racking adventure building for him. But he was well-pleased, and I am somewhat grateful.

Here's a few pics, sent out with the hopes that Todd Rose will find this more to his liking. I.e., it's fairly understated.

Specs-
Top: Sitka
B/S: Indian Rosewood
Neck: Mahog/Indian/Curly maple/Indian/Mahog (The Indian for the neck veneers came from the Zootman, when there was an orphan side blow-out. Thanks Bob. )
Fretboard/Bridge/pins: Ebony
Bindings: Curly maple
Rosette: Red Ab.
Purflings: b/w/B/w/b
Head Overlay: Indian rw (Off-cuts from back)
Tail wedge: Same as head




Sorry for that ^ shot. The color is off, too yellow, but it gives a view of the shape.

That's really nicely done. EIR is such an underated wood. You've let the wood do all the talking there. I like the headstock shape.

The silking on the top is lovely - I have had a set of sitka in my workshop gathering dust for neary 4 years now. I'll have to try it out on something soon.

That is a beautiful guitar in all respects. Dave makes a good point about EIR, if it to became restricted I can hear the cries now of "I remember when" and "wish I had bought a shop full"

What an absolutely fantastic tonewood it is, and what a great builder you are.

I have been off for a while and am consequently last to the party, but, last or not, I think it looks great! That inspires me to finish the EIR and Sitka 000 that I am building for a spec guitar. Those woods should get more love.

Yeah, I know, Steve.

I'll tell ya, the sound of that funky beetle-infested maple guitar ( ) you had at the convention was not easily forgotten. It would hardly be an exaggeration for me to say it was a revelation for me. And certainly an inspiration.

BTW, nor will I ever forget that drop-dead gorgeous ziricote guitar with curly ash neck and bindings that your bro John posted photos of some time ago. That's another one that had a huge influence on me.
