I think we all lose if any of the active contributors to this forum leave. Many more pros than cons, certainly, right? Trying to follow the problems really doesn't seem to be worth the time. Value to all the points. Lets just focus on the positive, please.

I love you all and it feels like family. Of course families fight because they care so much.

I thoroughly enjoy this forum and almost feel like I'm having the "DT's" when it goes down. In the short time AI have been posting here and discussing lutherie, I have grown to enjoy reading posts from many of you and consider all of you my friends.


I understand about it taking so much time to keep the forum running smoothly and I am willing to put my hand up and volunteer for some of the mundane tasks that need to be done. If there is any way I can help... shipping packages, making up new member packets, or whatever, let me know. I'll do what I can to make this an even greater place.


I certainly hope that everyone can take a deep breath and find some common ground with the current disagreements in order to keep the forum in tact and running smoothly.

the guys that hold it all together do us all a great service, and I for one am very grateful to them, and to everyone else for the help, support & encouragement.

Just wanted to chime in and echo what's been said above. I a beginner and I don't post every day, but I do read this forum nearly every day. It is an amazing fountain of information and just as important, support for having the courage to try something new and the courage to take the leap to the next step up in skills.

I really, really hope that no one leaves the forum and that we all can agree to disagree on occasion. Sprirted discourse is a good thing as long as it is done with respect for the participants and without personal attack.

I'm like Ken.  When the forum is down, I have withdrawal symptoms.  I like everyone here, and miss seeing what each of you has to say.  It is definitely a highlight of my day being on line here.  Disagreements are just disagreements, they should not spoil it for everyone.  Most times one can say what they feel without personalizing it.  It has been interesting, though, and I'm glad things are settling down a little.

Dang, I've been on vacation for 9 days and this place has gone bananas. I've already cancelled the vacation for next year so this needn't happen again. What we need around here are more old codgers like me.

Well at least now we know that the current problems are all your fault.
It is nice that you canceled next year's vacation, but considering the damage your vacancy caused this year, don't you think that's a just too little too late?

I am certain that I speak for all members when I say that we really do like you and Brock a lot as well, and also, that we appreciate all the things that you guys must do to keep things sailing along.

I'm also certain that collectively, we cannot always agree with every decision made. However I think it's generally understood that there is just no way to please everyone every time. With that said, sometimes we need reminding that you guys do in fact manage to cut it very close to a best balance for all on the majority of occasions.

I guess what I am trying to say is that whilst it is important for the general membership to keep the above in mind, it is doubly so for you and Brock, because as administrators, if you guys start letting the inevitable conflicts get under your skin, then we are all finished here.

About a year ago I build my first reso. I didn't know about this site then. It turned out ok, but was not what I had hoped for, so I decided to build another. (I was hooked). Then I found this forum. My second reso was much better. I then decided to build a fretted guitar. I built an O-18 size guitar out of some scrap walnut that I had laying around my shop.(I got the plans from this site). I gave it to my grandson for his birthday yesterday. I am about ready to FP my second guitar. EIR and Redwood that I got from Bill Greene, who I met on this site. I also learned about FP on this site.
I guess what I am trying to say is, if not for this forum, I would still be playing golf on Saturdays and waisting my time watching movies at night, instead of working in my shop. I love you folks and am really grateful for all I learn here. This forum has truly changed my life. THANKS

Disagreements are inevitable, I disagree that conflicts are unhealthy, as someone stated eslewhere,
I think that from time to time, blowing off a little steam is just an excercise in the group dynamic.
I respect and appreciate everyone here, although Ive had my disagreements with some..
You guys have accelerated my knowledge 100fold, helped me outfit my shop for much less than it would have cost me retail, and helped me to build what I could in the way of tools and jigs...
and I thank you for that!
