My local library is pretty good at sourcing anything I want to look at or read, Ive sourced alot of books on wodworking, planemaking and luthierie there... Bravo local library!! However one they cant seem to get a hold of for me is "animal magnetism for musicians" I was wondering if anyone had it sitting on thier bookshelf collecting dust,? and mabye would they A)sell it? - or B)let me borrow it if I paid the shipping? I figured recently that seeing as I cant use that motor I have (variable speed 1/6th hp approx) for the power sharpening system Im building That it would make a pretty danged good pickup winder! In addition, Id really like to know if anyone here winds thier own pickups? Have you ever wound your own? Do you find thier are distinct merits to winding pickups yourself,? or is it just easier to buy from experienced makers?... Im not going to be dissuaded from trying it, Im curious that way, but Id really be interested in anyone who had some firsthand info on the art of winding . Thanks everyone Cheers charliewood |

PS Id also be Extremely interested in the Lindy Fralin video seminar that used to be offered by Stew Mac entitled "Guitar electronics and pickups" Which seems to be discontinued now or used copies of "basic pickup winding" by Jason Lollar also ...... thanks Cheers Charliewood |

Info on the book here: http://q-tuner.com/book.shtml ...and there's a link on the bottom to the sole distributor of the book. I've got a copy at home. It's a very informative book! |

A number of folks at the MIMF wind their own pickups and there's considerable info there. |

Thanks Todd, and everyone else who chimed in Well I say! that edition of the book must have been a first edition or something special.... because they seem to be available from stew mac for like 30-40bucks currently! Id like to get a copy, any way I can, and pdf would definitely be fine - however perhaps the pdf was a scan that someone did?? and was an illegal copy or something, I dunno a google search turned up nothing when I looked. Im gonna keep looking though... Cheers Charliewod |

Charlie, LMI carries the Animal Magnetism for Musicians. Neither Stew-Mac or LMI carries Jason's book. I have a copy of Jason's book that I'm willing to loan you if you like. |
