Todd, I use epoxy because I'm afraid not too, But with that said, Paul McGill once told me that you can and should bake your coco back plates before gluing. This will remove much of the resins and allow you to use regular white glue or titebond.
Ive not tried this, but I plan too.

Paul is LOADED with tips like this. He is a great guy to ask just about anything with reguards to guitar building.

This is a little Off Topic, OK, a lot OT, but I was at a little gathering last night and was talking with one of the CSO's clarinet players, and he said that his current favorite instrument is made of cocobolo, which is not the norm for most of these instruments.

I don't know what you consider "long term" but I have several c.c. that I used titebond - regular yellow on. They all have been just fine (6+years). What I did was wipe them down with Naptha probably 20 times. A few times a day, maybe over a 10 day period. Anytime I could feel or see any of the oils I would give them a thorough wiping. Once I was pretty sure the oils weren't so prevalent I glued up.
