I'm trying to put together a circle jig. Using the great examples posted here, I have it all cut out of phenolic. But before I go and mess things up, what glue works best with phenolic? If its epoxy, is there one to use or ones to avoid? Thanks. |

Yep, what Todd said Lillian, HERE is a link to Sylvan's site where he shows how he makes them, and HERE is a link to a natty version as produced by our good Viking mate Arnt. Cheers Kim |

Thanks Todd. I ended up with a really thick piece of phenolic, so I cut the base piece down. Pat Foster (Burbank) was the inspiration for that thought. Thanks for the tips. |

Thanks Kim. I had not seen Sylvan's. I'll add that one to my archives, especially if the one I have, ah, started, doesn't work out. |

Hey Lilian, Can you keep me posted on how that turns out? I still need to make one of those things. Where did you find the supplies also? Thanks, Christian |

Peach Tree Woodworking has that stuff here. I have not compared their prices, but they seem pretty reasonable. |

Christian, I got the phenolic from my brother, who got it from his father-in-law. The rods came from a cheap-cheesy router edge guide. Not much help for you I know, but Ebay always has stuff. I would offer to take pictures of my jig creation, but I had an otherwise nasty day turned upside down by Hesh. He most graciously offered to send me one that he had and was not using. No PayPal, no checks, he only wanted my address. He is a wonderful example of paying it forward. If that phrase is new to you, you ought to check into it. It happens everyday here on the forum. Hesh, please allow me a very public thank you for your kindness for a private gesture. Lights like this should not be hidden. |
