Good Morning All - finally getting onto this forum - what a great resource and a fun bunch of folks you are - thanks to all who make this forum happen. I plan to post some photos of what I am up to lutherie-wise.I am building just a couple of instruments per year these days but am doing more with tonewood harvesting. Probably bad form esp. for a first post but I now have mando/uke woods available as well as the guitar woods, mostly all earth-friendly (salvage, recycled etc).www.maizeguitars.com/woods cheers - Dave Maize |

Welcome Dave! I share your interest in building with recycled, reused and reclaimed material. I've built 7 guitars with recycled piano soundboards for tops. I'd make more if someone would bring me the pianos. ![]() long |

Welcome! Found any nice figured Myrtle on the beach lately? I loved the Myrtle you had at the Marylhurst Hand Made Instrument show. You should get in touch with Lance and Brock about becoming a supporting dealer. I know you would be a big hit around here, all the wood you had at the show looked top notch ![]() Peace,Rich |

Welcome Dave. Your products have been mentioned here a couple of times previously, so it's good to have your input. |

Hey Dave- Welcome to the OLF, let's see some of those instruments you were talking about. I have been a regular visitor to your website and have always liked that you offer reclaimed and salvaged tonewoods. Since you are offering tonewood for ukes and mandos, are you making any of these? If so, I would really like to see pictures of those. I really dig ukes. Anyway, it's nice to have you here at our forum. |

Thanks john - I actually haven't built any of the smaller ones, just seem to have a lot of smaller pieces of really nice woods.I promise to send a few photos of some recent projects -basses and a baritone -salud - Dave [QUOTE=John Lewis]Hey Dave- Welcome to the OLF, let's see some of those instruments you were talking about. Hey there - this is the back of a 4-string bay laurel ( myrtle)ABG that I built recently -you can barely see the wooden tennis racket handle -it works well to hold the body for spraying or clamping in a vice for work on the body.I basically just bandsaw the racket off ( the fun part) and install two threaded inserts that match up with the bolt spacing on my neck block.Probably some way you could make it work with a dovetail too. hasta luego - dave ![]() |
