I normally don’t reply to any controversial posts. As a sponsor on the OLF I try my best to avoid controversy. However the events that have taken place here over the last several weeks have left me deeply saddened. I will not go into any of them because most of you know what has occurred. Let me start by stating that I consider Lance to be a very dear and close friend. We go back to pre OLF
days. I know that he is also deeply hurt by what has transpired here of late. May I suggest that we all try to live by the Golden Rule. "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." which simply means "treat others as you would like to be treated." It is arguably the most essential basis for the modern concept of human rights. So simple but sometimes so hard for some to live by. Before posting please read what you have typed before hitting the enter key. Think about what you have written. Have I offended anyone? Maybe I should re-phrase what I am trying to convey. Remember there are no facial expressions of tone of voice attached to typed words. They can very easily be misconstrued. A smiley won't correct a wrong. Let’s get back to what this forum is about. Building guitars, sharing info with one another, group buys and all the good things we can accomplish as a group. Remember the quote ”United we stand. Divided we fall.

To Lance and Brock:
I strongly urge you to get the new forum software ASAP. For starters it will allow the return of the sorely needed edit button. Once the enter key is hit we have reached the point of no return. Even a 30 minute window would be just fine. Can’t find one that allows cascading threads then so be it. We will all get over that hurdle in short order.
It should also make a real name and registering mandatory in order to post. No more hiding behind a fictitious name or no name. Last but not least we need to have moderators and some type of warning system. Three strikes and your out.. I know it sounds harsh but if a person can’t abide by the simple rules then we don’t need them here.
I’ll end on this note:

"Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes.
That way when you criticize them, you are a mile away from them
and you have their shoes"

Indeed Bob... 'Do unto others...' Simple words that convey a whole lot...

I'll echo your sentiments, let's just get back to what this forum is all about; Guitars!

You're a wise man, Bro. Well stated and I agree with your suggestions. We do have some growing pains but the family is too close to let it tear us apart.

I just hope that the solution to the technical glitches and inefficiencies will be corrected sooner rather than later. I would also like to add that if we could at least get a fairly reliable schedule as to when the new software can be expected, I think that would go a long way in relieving some frustration.

Perhaps a thread to make suggestions as to the new software might engender more support and help from qualified members...nothing wrong with asking for help.

Finally...Bob...did I leave a pair of shoes last time I was in Buffalo?

Well said Bob, thanks for the insight!
JJ, were they the white patten leather ankle boots that zip up the side? I think you left them here last time you were by.

Thanks Bob and to Lance too for his comments in the other thread.  OLF is a place to be when not building guitars!  Let's all strive to keep it that way.  Thanks to all who've sought reconciliation behind the scenes too.

The Golden Rule, Rules!  I never thought I'd be quoting my elementary teachers.

Good stuff Bob
I agree!
I am sad to hear that Lance is troubled by all this - but it stands to reason, this is his baby after all - but really,
Lance.... the great of this place dwarfs the odd trouble spots here, by a millions miles.
SO pleased dont be bummed about someone who cant hold thier tounge - it would be like taking responsibility for everyone here, when in fact.. your responsible for this unbelievable place... not the random stale or tasteless comment that someone might dish here from time to time.
We really appreciate this place! Thanks a million times over!
Cheers

Bob,

That needed to be said and you are one of the very few here in a position to say it. Thank you.

I've been out of town for a few days and away from computers. Just logged in and well...

Bob, I fully agree with your assessment. There is no place for personal attacks here. My goodness, we're attempting to build guitars, to create instruments that can be used by artists, things of peace and beauty regardless of race, creed or color. We need to be responsible for what we put out in our writings.

This forum is usually very restrained compared to some. The ability to hide behind an 'alias' can be intoxicating in all the wrong ways. I have watched people in other forums say things to one another that they would never say face to face -- to anyone.

We are adults. We need to act accordingly and if we can't, we need to be removed from the forum.

We need to be good to one another and we need to be good to ourselves. Please.

There is an old Chinese saying.

“Sincere words are not grand”

However, in your case Bob, your words are both Grand and Sincere!

Thank you
