Is kraft paper the same stuff as that brown paper that Stew Mac use in their packaging, because I find that stuff seriously good for wrapping wood with in the Fox bender after a light spritzing. It did much the same as you have described on a set or two of EIR I recently bent.

I used Kraft paper when bending my Camatillo.  It did a great job of soaking up all the oil and keeping my bending slats and blanket clean.  I get it by the roll at Walmart.  My question is why wouldn't you use it on lighter woods?  There isn't anything in the paper that would stain the wood is there?

Hey David, what section of Wal-mart carries the paper. I wasn't sure where to start looking, and when I wander through Wal-mart it can get expensive.

LOL  I found it in the office supply section where they have bubble wrap and mailing supplies.

Dave, I buy mine in our local sub-post office, with the wrapping stuff, it's even labelled Kraft Paper!.

Ironically, with all of the stuff I've bought from Stew Mac over the years it's the one guitar making item I don't have to buy - at least for a long time to come

The local Walmart here has it in the gift wrap section, and it is indeed called "Kraft Paper", a big roll and really cheap.  After reading the posts about the resins baking out (experienced some of that with my first build, usig granadillo), I thought I'd try it on my latest bend...works great!  Cutting the roll into 6" strips on the bandsaw is another pointer I read here on OLF.

Speaking of kraft paper... does anyone know of a source for kraft paper with a wax coated side. I have kept my eye out for some of this to do my glue-ups on, but have never seen any around.

Chris - go to a paper supplier.  What you are looking for is butcher paper.  Waxed on one side.  Check with your local grocer or butcher shop.
