When I installed my rosette one small section of the perfling came up out of the channel and I glued it without noticing. Whoops. I thought it would be ok, but I ended up having to sand down too low and went right through the perfling in a 3/4" section. Whoops #2. So I could only imagine the only fix was to route out and re-install the perfling around the outside of the abalone. I couldn't really do that because I don't have a bit small enough to do .030". I just carefully cut out with a razor and the corner of my scraper a section of the perfling (about 1.5") and put another piece in.
It looks 99% better now, but that 1% flaw still really ticks me off. Would I fix it like this again? No, but being my first build I know I have to settle on certain things and I will hopefully never make a mistake like this again.
Just two small specs where the patch starts and stops. Good enough I guess.
