For those of you doing your own finishing, what do you use as a final buff/polish...say you are using a buffing wheel with Menzerna down to a finest grade polish, have you found it beneficial to hand buff as a last step, and if so what are you using and how are you doing it. Thanks So Much, Greg |

Greg... Before setling on FP, I used nitro as well as several waterborne finishes. The key with any of these finishes is to wait 2-4 weeks before wet sanding and buffing. The longer the better. My best results have come from wet sanding from 320 through 12,000 grit Micromesh. After that, all that is required is light buffing with Menzerna fine and extra fine. I have also followed with Maquires swirl remover by hand but I'm not sure I added any value. Good luck! |

jj, what are you using for your wet sand? many years ago i used water but have been on naphtha for a long while now. |

Michael...I use water with a few drops of dish washing soap as a lubricant. Do you see any advantage since using Naphtha? |

It sounds interesting however, the less I have my hands in solvent the better I think. I know a couple luthiers that only use spit. I normally use water wish a couple drops of dish detergent. |

Naptha? White gas for camp stoves is less costly. Do you use finish grade or can I use "camp" grade? |
