My wife decided to surprise me yesterday when I came home from work. It's our 5 year anniversary (and my birthday in two weeks) and she must have actually heard all the not-so-subtle hints I threw out for the past month. I found this in the back of her SUV when she asked me to "bring in some heavy groceries". It was more $ than she thought so apparently this gift is going to be spread around (anniversary, b-day, Christmas, flag day, Canada day...) which is fine by me.

By the way, this saw is a screaming deal at Equipment Sales and Surplus in Auburn, WA - about 25% under retail. This saw is "surplus" I guess scratch-and-dent kind of thing but nothing that I can see is at all wrong with it and they get all their inventory straight from a Jet warehouse down the road. I don't really know how it works actually, but they are great guys down there.

Correction: I did the math and it's more like 30% under retail. Not too shabby.

Congrats dude, it looks like a good one. Enjoy it and make something nice for your wife!!! Maybe a band-saw jewelry box.

Nice surprise.  I bought myself a Gent's saw for $20.00, and felt pretty good.  I can't imagine how I'd feel if I came home to a bandsaw, of any kind.

John - I'll have to do something pretty nice for her for this one!

Waddy - Yeah, I was pretty shocked actually, I didn't think I'd actually get this. Did the gents saw work for cutting those rosette logs?

Won't know till tonight if I'm lucky.  It may be Sunday afternoon before I get another shot at it.  Granddaughter coming in for a visit in the morning.  Not sure what the "honey do" list looks like.

Congrats Christian. Never use gloves, don't saw tired and keep vigilant at all times.... if this isn't your first bandsaw, disregard!  Otherwise, keep the sausages safe.
Happy Bday... maybe you could show your appreciation by building her a really awesome guitar. One just like you would want...

Good score, Christian and happy birthday and all those other holidays. I've had a 14" Jet for 6 years now and I absolutely love it. It's a fine machine for the money.

Sweet present there Christian.

Ya know, I could have done without the information about where you got it from and how much you saved, what a sweet deal, etc.. Now I have to keep telling myself "No, you can't just go and look. You never just go and look. So what if it's just down the hill, NO."   People are going to stare than the do now. At least Grizzly is close on Saturdays so I can't get into trouble there.

wonderful gift. It give you license to sneak all the wood into the house without fear ofbeing caught. My wife did the same thing 3 years ago Last christmas I made her Koa/Englemann OM and and a Cigar Humidor. Now she is taking lessons and smoking cubans (legal in Canada).

WOW! She must really love you!

You realize now, you'll have to build her that kitchen table she's always wanted.
