Check out this link, it's very interesting. While watching, look at the rosette jig. Has anybody ever seen something like this, and if so how does it work?

Whoa! Does he build some amazing guitars. Just beautiful.

The rosette jig looks interesting. Looks like cables hold everything together or something. I would love to learn how to use a jig like that.

Thanks for the link John, that was a great interview.

My impression of that jig is that it is to build the rosette itself out of the little chunks of wood. Looks like he could build more than one at a time. It did look pretty interesting.

Now that bill gates started the screen saver and stalled the movie, I had the pleasure of watching it again, I've pretty much figured out the jig.

He has the outside and the inside rings bent and glued together. There is a strap that goes around the outside ring to clamp the assembly. That's what you see him tighten. I assume there is a ridge that takes the place of the soundhole, so that the inside ring is the right size. There is a rod down the center that holds the two rings at the right distance from each other under where the fingerboard would go. It also would have the function of clamping that end of the rosette since the strap can't do it.
