Well I finally finished my first post-Somogyi guitar, here are a few pics, the lighting was really bad so this is as good as I have for now. The new owner is picking the guitar up today.

Thanks Gents....Yes it is Aussie Blackwood(from Tim) with bloodwood bindings and ebony purfling. Lance...here are a couple of head on "bridge" shots, they're pretty crappy but you'll be able to see the shape.

Very nice job Greg! I love bloodwood bindings I like the oval shaped sound port also.You say this is your first ( post Somogyi) guitar, So how is the sound ? |

Thanks Dave, How does it sound....Well, I think it is my best sounding guitar for sure. I took the guitar to a local guitar shop where I take as many as I can before handing them off to their respective owners, so the guys at the shop have played several of my previous guitars. Some of the comments I heard were that it was my best sounding guitar to date, that it had a very unique/different sound to it which they liked very much. The unique voice is there, but like everything else in a guitars voice it is subtle, but a noticeable difference. They commented that it had an open, full, rich sound...but I would say the one area of the guitar that really impressed them was the low E, it is very interesting sounding, deep and rich, alive...as I was leaving the shop I asked the owner so what do you think, he said it was fantastic and that the guitar had a great E string reminding him of a piano, he pointed to some vintage guitar in the shop and said like that one but nicer. Oh yeah, oddly enough he also commented that the "G" chord was so different than other guitars and that he really liked it....I guess it does sound unique like the rest of the guitar, again it's unique sound is subtle, but it is definitely different in a good way(at least to the few ears that have heard it). And yes, I did do some bracing that is different from traditional steel string guitars, nothing radical, just enough to hopefully create something a bit unique sounding and it seemed to work. It seems prudent at this time to not post pictures of the bracing, so I hope you can appreciate that decision. So it sounds great, but I can do better!! Cheers, Greg |

Very very nice!! What I love about handbuilt guitars is the uniqueness and exquisite beauty in each one. Who woulda thunk it to combine bloodwood with Aussie balckwood?! I henceforth delare from this day forward that I am never going to buy a factory made guitar, never, ever again. |

Hi Dave....yes it was very good to get the feedback from the guitar shop, confirmed what I was hearing, always helpful to have another set of ears which usually carry with them a slightly different perspective. I had a wonderful visit with the owner of the guitar today as it changed hands, it was really thrilling to hear that he too found the sound pleasing. Greg |
