In the mean time, I have concentrated on trying to finish up a few of the builds I have going on right now and I now have 2 of the boxes ready for some finish (or almost ready). Both boxes have been z-poxied, sanded, and a second coat of z-poxy applied to them.

Just thought some of you might want to see what they look like.

Here is a pic of the faces of both of them. Notice that one has abalone adornment and the other has MOP adornments. One is a WRC top and the other is Englemann spruce.

The one on the left is figured Sapele and has curly maple binding and and Englemann top. The one on the right is Sycamore and has a WRC top. It also has full abalone front and rear with a decorative wooden inlay up the center of the guitar.

Only the back and sides have been z-poxied at this point, only the back and sides. I am debating on whether or not to use z-poxy on the tops right now but am leaning towards not using it.

The Sycamore guitar is going to have a theme of "The Garden of Eden". As of right now this guitar may take a while to complete. I have used leopardwood for the binding (a real trick to bending that stuff!!) and leopardwood for the tail wedge. The neck will be mahogany with a snakewood fingerboard and headsock. I'll leave the details of that for later, but you will see the garden of eden when I am finished with it. It also has non-traditional cross bracing on the back.

The Sapele guitar has an Englemann top and is sporting full MOP purflings and rosette. This guitar will be one of the economy models of my line witht he only upgrade being the MOP purflings. Still it proves to be a resonant box and is quite striking in an almost 3D wood grain on the back and sides. It has traditional back bracing.

Both guitars have parabolic top bracing.

One other guitar (not pictured) is an Ash guitar with an Adi top. I'm experimenting with this guitar and will have some pictures of it soon.

WOW Ken looks nice so far I think the consensus is to not z poxy tors...(not
me but what I have read..I am intrested in the garden of eden themed one. I
had a simlar idea for a uke but was going to try to find biblical woods ( ie
ceda of lebanon ect..) The bracing on both sounds interesting close ups
would be good

The more I look at the guitars the more things I see that I would like to do to them. I guess at some point I'll have to just stop and call them finished.

The tail wedge on the Sycamore guitar looks off-center, but I know that it is perfectly centered to both the top and back and they are in alignment. I think it is the spots in the leopardwood that is causing the optical illusion and I dont know how to change this. It may also be the spots on the sycamore that is causing the illusion. I havent run into this before so I'm stumped with it.

From looking at it I think what is causing your eye to see a slant is the
pattern on the tail wedge notice it is diagonal that is why I think the eye
thinks its not centered

Ken, Both guitars are lookin' good!
On the end graft-Try closing one eye and line up center to it and it looks straight. I'm sure its an optical dilusion!
