Hey everyone

The wiring's done, and now I'm thinking about what to use as a faceplate
for my new amp. Help me imagine The amp I made last summer used
ziricote for the faceplate that I picked up from Brad Goodman:

This new one's going to be a head with black tolex. Originally I was
thinking about using something light, like some sort of maple with figure.
Curl, spalt, whatever. But now I'm imagining koa. Do you guys have any
ideas? The knobs will be chicken head knobs like the ones in the pic, but
I have both cream and black to choose from. This one's also going to
have knobs and switches all the way across, and I'm not sure if anything
beyond medium figure would ultimately get lost.

I think birdseye maple would look great.

Birdseye is what I thought of, too. You already have chicken heads.

I'll have to send you some of the Chicken Head Chocolates (TM) that I make every year for NAMM. I made food grade silicone rubber molds on a pattern plate of 100 knobs, and we have a local chocolatier pour dark chocolate. They make great favors for our clients. Maybe I'll make some for Healdsburg.

Ah, but where to get the myrtle? Too expensive for this, I'm afraid. I
think it's down to choosing between birdseye and koa.

Rick, you have actual chocolates that look like these amp knobs?!

Yes, we have chocolates that are patterned after chicken head knobs. I'll have some at Healdsburg. Next up will be Strat and Humbucker pickup chocolate bars, but I won't have those until next NAMM.
