I am continually amazed at how valuable the OLF is and how generous suppliers and experienced luthiers are in giving of their time and talents. I have to mention my recent experience with Steve Roberson of Colonial Tonewoods (I really hope he doesn't mind)!

Last week I posted a picture of a guitar I built for my son - the top basically imploded because of my lack of experience and knowledge. This guitar was special because my son and I flew up to Williamsburg to visit Steve and select the woods. Steve graciously and patiently showed us tonewoods from his extensive inventory. My son selected a beautiful set of Ziricote and a beautiful Sitka Spruce top.

Well yesterday FedEx delivered a surprise Sitka Spruce top from Colonial - even nicer than the original one. My son and I are overwhelmed with this extremely generous gesture. Thank you Steve and thank you OLF for fostering such a wonderful environment.

Steve is awesome. I bought the materials for my 1st and 2nd (still working on the first ) from him. He answered all my questions and gave me some tips. He's a first class guy.

Steve is top shelf. He has really taken super good care of me in the past... And his BRW sets are just awesome.

Hey Hesh thanks for the image bro, it's plain to see that not only is Steve a fantastic wood vendor, he is also a devilishly attractive looking fellow as well.

Who'd a thunk it

Cheers

[QUOTE=Hesh1956] Yep Steve is a class guy and he has always been very helpful to me. His BRW is second to none.

On the first scratch build that I ever did Steve offered to thickness sand my top for me since I did not have a drum sander yet.

When I have needed special consideration like color matches, etc. Steve has gone above and beyond over and over for me.

He is a very fine example of a guy/sponsor who genuinely cares about the success of his clients.

Ordering from Steve is so easy even a caveman can do it.......

I think that is my photo that I took of Steve on my trip out there in June. He looks pretty disgusted waiting for me to pick out my wood. Actually, he was clean shaven when I started looking.

Come to think of it, I remember seeing a couple of leg bones.    I just figured they were for nuts and saddles.

A highlight of my summer, meeting Steve.
