Bowl making can be fun. Here's some I did back in the the previous century with the largest being about 26" diameter. The polychromatic method, as Chris is describing, sure makes use of some of the small offcuts. Another nice feature of this method is that you're not trying to turn across the grain like on a solid blank of wood.

Those are beautiful, Nelson. I was just getting into that when the guitar bug bit, and that's what I wanted to be able to do. Now it will be another 10 or 12 years before I resume. But, as someone who has tried turning, I really appreciate your work!!
