My wife and kids and I were traveling home from visiting my wife's family yesterday, and we were passing through Olean, NY, so we stopped at West Penn Hardwoods, an OLF sponsor. With two little kids in the car, we were running later than planned, and it was about 5:20 by the time we got there. I had not called ahead or anything; it was an unannounced visit. The door was open, so I walked in and introduced myself. Though they were closed for the day, the owner, Rocky Mehta, kindly offered to show me around. It was my first time visiting a wood warehouse of that size, and though I was only there for a half hour or so, it was a fun and educational experience. Rocky has all kinds of great wood for guitar building (to put it mildly), and he enjoyed showing me some of the most spectacular stuff in his current inventory. It's about a 2 1/2 hour drive from my home, but now that I've seen all the wood he's got, I'll definitely be making a special trip back there to buy some stuff soon. Maybe if Rocky doesn't mind, I'll take a few photos and post them here. Both Rocky and the young woman who was in the office were very kind, and I look forward to doing business with them.

Isn't it fun checking out a wood seller's best stash in person? I got a chance to do that with Bruce Creps about five years ago. (Not a sponsor, but a good guy never the less.)
