Hi Guys.
This is on a Rickenbacker 4001 bass so it's a LONG neck!
The body is actually being done as a quilted blue stain maple. It should be great.
I wanted to make the sharks look natural. Too many inlays out there of the "gaping maw of death" shark-type. Those make me sick .

I now have the rare experience of feeling humble while my head explodes at the same time

I have picked up a lot of diamonds lately, along with some jeweler's tips and training and I am continuing to make broaches and pendants as well as inlays. I will post them in NON guitar topics when they are done.

NO- no art classes. I do a bit of photography though, and I am a diver. I was actually told NOT to take classes by an art teacher once. He said it wouldn't help me much, just throw all I have out of whack.
Mike the sand effect is sand corian. It's great for this type of thing.
John- I swear the dolphin neck is coming out to you by weeks end. It's almost there.

I was recently quoted a very reasonable price for doing my logo in MOP. It just doesn't seem reasonable to do it your self considering the cost of the MOP and especially your labor.  A complicated scene might be different.

how well does that inlay stand up to playing? Is it harder than the wood?

Ricardo I do these for other people, My own are my showpieces. Almost everything I post here are commissions for others so yes, it's normally more affordable with complicated pieces to have others do them, especially given the hours involved.

Pearl and corian and recon stone are all harder than wood, even ebony, so it should hold up fine. If it's played to death then yes it will show wear, but that's any material.
I have four more inlays all upcoming and they are all seemingly marine life. This is working!
