I was there in 1988 and didn't find one, but up in the Andes in a little town near Otovalo there was a guitar/charango shop across the street. One thing to pick up while you're there is a good (and I mean really good) Panama hat. Get a fino Montecristo...one of the ones that comes in a balsa box; pay fairly big bucks...$100.00 to $200.00...for it, bring it back and have Mike at Paul's Hatworks in San Francisco finish it off for you. You'll wind up with a $2,500.00 hat... |
