We were touring around Northern Vancouver Island last week and happened upon "The Worlds Largest Burl"in Port McNeil. The funny ting was about a kilometer up the road was another one claiming the same fame. Apparently this one is the winner at 24 tons. ![]() ![]() And this was one of the larger Sitkas I saw but did see lots of other beauties. This one was on Malcom Island. ![]() |

That’s unbelievable! I have to wonder though, how long did it take to grow that big? I’ll take a guess at, 3000 years! Anyone else? Robert |

Red
You must be thinking of some other family. That tree was lucky I was on holiday and didn't have a chain saw with me. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Did you, at least, tap it to see if it had a good tone? |

Robert
That tree was probably 700 - 800 years old. The locals said it was 220 ft. tall. Although I didn't get to talk to the guy who put the tape measure on it. ![]() ![]() ![]() |
