I am about to make my first neck for an OM guitar that I will be building. It will be my first after doing a couple of Martin kits. I have read and have the Cumpiano book and have looked at many web sites on neck construction, but would still like to ask for some direction. I plan on doing a mortise and tenon neck from one piece mahogany; actually may do two necks at once, a one piece and a build up with scarf joint neck. Where are the best places to go for a mostly step by step approach for layout, carving, etc.? Thanks in advance! Tom Harbin |

Tom, try Charlie Hoffman's site. There is a complete step by step on there, you'll learn a lot. Hoffman Guitars |

If you can wait another month, just buy Robbie's DVD for the steel string. Neck carving and mortise and tenon neck ala cumpiano method is used in the DVD. Tracy |

Not yet, his neck carving will probably be out in a few months. I know he is working on it, but not sure when it will be out. |

Thank you guys! The Hoffman site is quite helpful, so I think I'm ready to give it a go! I also saw a neck routing/shaping jig that someone had built that looked pretty handy, anyone know where it might be? thanks again, Tom |
