Hello all -

Relatively new at all this but have a carpentry and engineering background - I want to build an electric guitar and the only thing I know for sure is that I would like Seymour Duncan pickups, and ebony fret board, and I need a neck width suited for smaller hands.  Is there ANY PLACE on the WWW that allows to create a custom guitar, from start to finish, choosing options along the way, and then ships you parts you have selected?  I found a couple that offer Strat or Tele bodies only and then there's Warmouth which is a HUGE site but, unfortunately, I am have a hell of a time navigating the site and seeing if it has what I need.  It would be great to have a site as simple as 1) Pick your body style, 2) Pick your finishing/paint 3) Pick your pickups, etc.  I do not want it built for me, rather the selected parts sent.  Thanks all in advance for any assistance.

Good morning GDTRFB and welcome to the best luthier's forum on the web. There isn't the volume of threads in the archive for electrical as there are for acoustics, but you will still find valuable information there. I suggest that you pick up a couple of books like Marvin Hiscock's. It will help when the time comes to putting it all together. Wish I could help with the parts.

Take a moment to run through the Code of Conduct. You'll find the thread at the top of the topic page. This is a family friendly forum, so please keep the expletives out of your posts.

Again, welcome to a great site.

Welcome, GDTRFB, you have found a great resource site.  It is nice, however, to have, at least, a first name or something that we can refer to you by.

Seriously, give Warmoth a phone call. If you're up for a bolt-on, they can deliver the goods. It's a simple enough site, though; go to the necks page, pick the woods you want, headstock you want, neck profile you want, inlays you want, jot them down. Bodies page, pick the style, and if you want something funky, call them up and ask them what they've got to offer you. The 'showcase' section will give you a good idea of the kind of stuff Warmoth can provide, but a quick call, a chat (or if you prefer, and email) will get you everything you need. Great company, great quality.

If you want something really non-standard/custom, go elsewhere (custom builder) and be prepared to pay significantly more. If you want a strat or telecaster, there are very many games in town, if you want something else, I've yet to see anyone other than Warmoth (non-single luthier shop-wise, anyway) offer much of anything.
