Hi fellas....

I'm a new builder, having built several over the past year, and need some help on headstock design.....namely tuning peg placement and spacing.

With my first few builds, the peghead placement was pure luck!!! I'm wondering if there's any formula or "best practice" that it the rule.

Any help would be appreciated.

Here are a few quick suggestions:

1) look at some plans

2) Check out and measure some guitars at a guitar center

3) Paper and pencil and design your own using your imagination

Basically, the strings should pass through the nut slots without interfering with other posts. You'll be able to see that in your full scale layout.

Hi Ron

These are the hole locations on mine:

Hole 1: 2" above nut
Hole 2: 3 3/16" above nut
Hole 3: 4 3/4 above nut

They're all 1/2" in from the side. Hole size depends on your tuners.
