A friend brought me his new 414 with a very small ding in the top (he thinks it looks like a crater!)...I think maybe the case latch hit it on the way in or out...anyway, I know Taylor has a polyester finish and I'm wondering how to go about making the spot less apparent (I'm pretty sure it won't be invisible at any rate)...it's not really deep enough for CA and leveling back...I'm thinking a small artist's brush and nitro laquer, then let it cure well and hit it with the buffer...or just run far far away from the prospect...any thoughts from you pros?

Low viscosity CA. Then tell the owner to put it in a glass case, and never
touch it again. Just look at it.

A buddy of mine sent his back to Taylor for the repair, a couple
hundred $ as I recall (2 episodes of case latch bite-down).  They
did a good job repairing it, but it was a far-from-invisible repair.

If he thinks it looks like a crater, do you think he'll be happy with witness lines, or the way the light reflects/refract differently? Just a thought...

When people bring me things like that my first thought is he needs a hug that he did not get when he was young. It is not the dent that is bothering him. Unfortunately we have then reached an impasse as I am NOT the hug guy. I am the guitar repair guy. As David said CA and a glass booth but I tend to shy away from that stuff now as the next time he dings it you have already given him the open door to call you about it. Can open, worms everywhere.
Best, Evan

Terry and Evan...all too true! I've already told him the repair would NOT be invisible...and I also told him that he maybe should get a few more dings over time, then send the guitar to Taylor! Since I'm moving, I could "forget" to give him my forwarding address! Thanks for the input guys!
