i have a couple questions on making a bridge. i cant seem to find what size hole to drill for the pins. if im going for 3/8 or .30 thick how deep should the slot be for the saddle? should the pin holes follow the angle of the saddle slot or be straight? is there any ad/dissadvantages? thanks for your help

The standards are straight pin holes, drilled to 3/16" and then reamed (as the pins are tapered). On a 3/8" bridge, 1/4" would make sense for a saddle slot depth. A lot of people tilt the saddle back a bit (maybe 10-15 degrees) rather than leaving it vertical so as to reduce torque on the saddle.

If you're looking for dimensions on a lot of stuff, picking up one of the guitar-building books even as a reference is handy.
