Does anyone know where to get sheets of sandpaper bigger than 9 x 11? I would be using these for a sanding board. Right now I have been taping four 9 x 11 sheets and they usually don't hold up that well. Thanks, Doug Ubele |

I use a large beltsander paper. It's 36" wide x about 72" long after I cut it in half. The larger tool stores should be able to get them for you. They are not cheap but they are large and last quite a while. For my sanding dishes I use a sanding screen from a floor polisher. The type they use to refinish gym floors. I also use the sanding paper as well. Just a couple of suggestions. Have a great Thursday. |

I got mine from John Hall at Blues Creek Guitars. I use 100 grit but I believe he has several grades. They are adhesive-backed with a release paper. |

What I do when I need a bigger piece of sand paper than I have is to take the smaller pieces, line them up flush to each other, and use double stick tape to fasten them together on a board. Its worked well for me. Joe Volin |

Look at the printing on the back of that sanding belt. It will tell you the paper manufacturer and item #. Then google for that. You are likely to find a cheaper source for that paper. After all, with a sanding belt you are paying for somebody to carefully measure, join, and QC the belt. |

No, I will be using it for a sanding board. I will use that to sand the kerf level with the sides, or dome the bottom of the sides, etc. Thanks |

3M Spray Adhesive works great for this. I use the 9x11 sheets and sput them on that way. It works great. I suppose one big piece would be better, but this works fine. |

Don - That sounds good. Do you have trouble getting the paper off the board once you are done with it? My board is particle board that has an outside layer of a white material. You get it at Home Depot and it is used for shelving. Thanks, Doug Ubele |

Before going to sanding dishes which I cover with four inch sanding belt made for a drum sander, I used a sanding board. It's just a two by four with an arch cut on the bandsaw on one side for the back. Flat on the other side. I applied a cut up beltsander belt to both sides with 3M weatherstrip adhesive. Tougher'n nails, I still occasionally grab it to work over some tailblocks and headblocks, but mainly use the dishes now. |
