Ok, I need some help. The Ovation repair that I have in house is going good on the repair end. I will be re-fretting as well. I would like to be able to replace the saddle but have run into an issue. This guitar has a early eights model transducer type electronics package in it. It has a big fat plastic saddle with saw tooth type intonation steps. This thing is ?ā€ wide and is molded on to a metal ā€œcā€ channel with indexing pins at each end. The transducer is molded into the plastic saddle. I have not seen one like it before, but I have not worked on any early model Ovations before. I would like to be able go though the set up on this box but have been unable to find a replacement saddle/transducer. Anyone have an Idea on who made this electronics package for Ovation. It has a single knob with split pot. Volume is on the upper part of the knob and bass/treble on the lower. I send pictures but Diane has my camera and will not be back for 6 more weeks. If worst comes to worst I could intonate at the nut if needed.

You don't say why you want to replace the saddle. I assume it has grooves worn into it. The electronics were made by Ovation. They are the only ones who used this kind of pickup. I'm trying to remember for sure, but I think that I have ordered one of these directly from Ovation in the past couple of years. (I'm an authorized warranty center for Ovation.) They may still be available.    I've also replaced the Ovation pickup/saddle combination with Fishman's Acoustic Matrix under a wide Corian saddle. It works great.

Thanks Neil I was thinking of doing just that. Yes the groves are pretty deep as well. I will check with Ovation and see if the saddles are still available. I have worked on a lot of early after market pickups but this is one.
