I'm looking to start putting back the wood to build our associate pastor. I want to get the wood now so I can make sure it is ready when I'm ready to build. He doesn't know I am doing this, but I know he wants a 000 someday. To keep the surprise I really don't want to question him to heavily on wood combos especially since he knows I’m making one for me. I expect this to be number 4 or 5 sometime late next year. When playing worship he often has a very hard attack, but will often switch to a style with much more finesse. I’m at a loss for wood combos. I’ve got some nice Anyway, this is the guy who got me into playing guitar. He must have asked me 10 times if I play an instrument before I picked up Dad’s old Fender acoustic and began teaching myself to play. He says he only asked that many times because he forgot… yeah right, he forgot. So this will be a special one

For woods, well, what does he play now? Mahogany or rosewood? Any clue what kind of sound he likes in that field? I like rosewood guitars with for vocal accompanyment, but it's a sort of personal thing/voice match thing. I'm partial to a European top of some sort (Italian, Carpathian, German, Whatever...) for a good blend of digging in and subtle fingerstyle work. |
