Ok I cant make up my mind. 
The client requested EIRW/.02"Maple binding but also left it up to me as to bind it or not. I normally like to bind fretboards but something is telling me not to on this one. I have left the FB long. If I bind it I will put a gentle S curve in the end. If not I will radius to just small than sound hole So What do you think is the poll question? |

Personally I wouldn't bind it for the simple reason that it could draw your eye away from the beautiful inlay work. Also, It doesn't look like that you can see any maple bindings on the top so to me, it wouldn't match or tie into the rest of the guitar top. Just my 2 cents. |

The binding would be EIRW with a .02" maple(near white) purfling line. That may make more sence to you. |

I say that inlay would look best set in a modest frame of single strip binding. What is the outer layer of the top binding? |

I bind all of mine. I often use the same wood as the finger board if I don't want the look of a bound finger board. It's just easier than dealing with the fret ends. |

I've looked at it several times, read the comments, and came back and had another look. My gut reaction is that it looks unfinished....missing something.....so I guess my vote would be to bind it. Lovely work by the way. |

I'm with Old Man on this one, it totally looks to me like it needs an abalone purfling to complete the 'frame', binding or no. The whole rest of the guitar is framed in ab, so the FB will just look naked without it. |

Well the abalone purfling wont happen as ther is not enough room in a couple places for both a binding and bwb/abalone/bwb So it will be bound EIRW and .02 Maple purfling. Thanks for the input guys

I'm with the simple bikding idea. As some said, it somewhat looks unfinished. I believe just a thin simple bikding would look better overall. Though, honestly that guitar will look great regardless. The guitar is amazing and can't wait to see the finished pics. The inlay is awesome as well. I would probably do the little carve at the end of the fretboard you mentioned, mainly because as it is the inlay doesn't look quite centered vertically and chopping off a little of the board would look better, just a thought though. Keep up the great work. J |

Lovely guitar. Comming from someone who'se main interest in spanish style guitars, which don't come with bound fingerboards, I think that binding the fingerboard on your guitar is the thing that is going to complete it just nicely. Cheers, Claire |

I have a simple fixture that the FB clamps to that has an true edge that indexes the bearing of a templet bit on my router table. I set the the FB on the fixture with the amout I want to remove hanging off and clamp it down and route off on the router table. Turn the FB around 180 degress and repeat the process. |
