I'm ready to glue the ebony fretboard to the neck and WRC top. One of my books suggests coating the top (in the area of the fretboard) with paste wax to make glue squeezeout cleanup easier. My Johnson's paste wax looks pretty oily, and I'm afraid that it would create a bigger problem than no wax at all. What do you Classical builder do? Thanks, Ray |

I dont bother with wax, I glue the fretboard on and then make sure I clean up squeeze out straight away. I also minimize squeezeout by scraping glue off underside of fretboard a few mm's in from fretboard edge. |

I agree with kiwigeo, it is a good idea to keep the glue back from the edge where it contacts the top.. Another benefit of this (if you can manage it) is that over time if the top cracks due to fretboard shrinkage, with luck the cracks will be at the glue line UNDER the board, rather than visible at the edge. |
