I found these in my local WalMart- they're very handy for small clamping jobs, and produce about twice the clamping force of the commercial aluminum lining clamps I have.

The design of the 'grips' seems to make them less prone to slipping off the work as well.




They're called Tuff&Tidy skirt clips- for converting plastic hangers to skirt hangers. SKU 0-61648-201181.
BTW, my wife tells me that they're no good for skirts, as there's too much clamping force, so they may not be around long on the shelves.

They're about $2.50 for a pack of 10.

Sorry I can't address you by name...
Kerfed lining comes in several shapes- do you mean the triangular-section type? They're the only ones that are tricky to clamp, for me. I usually use solid linings, so it's a pretty straightforward clamping job in most cases.
I used clothespins with elastics for quite a while, and they work ok for linings, too.
Wooden clothespins are even cheaper than these clips as well.

John, when you say 'aluminum lining clamps' are you referring to mine or another brand? My angled clamps should be a perfect fit for most traditional linings and a really good fit for all others. If they aren't strong enough, more bands can be added. Let me know if I can help.

re: aluminum binding clamps-
The advantage of these is that, unlike some alternative make-do clamps, they won't dent or mark softer lining woods like basswood and mahogany.
Clamping pressure can be more of an issue if your linings aren't bent properly to follow the contour of the sides.
