Hi folks. I thought i might pop up a few pics, in no particular order, of my current build. A flamenca Blanca inspired by Esteso. I've been working on this for 8 or 9 months and finally got it boxed up last night..WOO!! Binding comes next...with nervous anticipation. Excuse my messy work space in advance. I got the basic idea for this guitar from a plan sent to me by Alan Carruth..Thanks Alan.... Cheers, Claire |

Thanks for sharing this! I'm just beginning to put my thoughts together for my first classical/flamenco and seeing this helps alot. I have one question.... It looks like you used a mold to build with. Did you also use a solera? |

Ken, The pictures above show that Claire used a combination of a solera and a mold. The top is face down on the solera in the last picture but in the third picture you can see the the mold around sides that have been put in place on the top. In the picture with the mold in place you can see the mold pieces are held in place at the tail...in the last picture with the solera exposed you see the bolts still there but with out the mold.

Hi Ken. I call it a solera. I don't know if thats the right term. Its a guitar shaped workboard. With a mold bolted onto that. It has the neck angle pre built into the workboard, and i can shim it if i like, which is what i did with this guitar. Here's a better pic. |

Looks great Claire, and you would be right at home in my workshop. We won't invite Hesh though. He'd have a coronary. Is the Cypress local or the Spanish variety? |

Very nice work Claire! Isn't the finger board a little long? Beautiful job so far. Your place looks like Hesh's compared to mine. Your solera with mold is similar to Bogdanovich's method of construction. |

Hi everyone. Thanks for the lovely comments. Waddy..:..Yes I'm leaving the fingerboard long for people with long fingers..:D The way I play its probably best if it covers the soundhole and muffles the sound anyhow... Materials: Soundboard: German spruce. Back and sides: Spanish cypress Neck: Mahogany Cheers, Claire |
