I was recently shown a Bourgeois with a rosewood back and Sides in which the back had severe pitting. So many I could not count them all. You could see and feel them without any effort whatsoever. What causes this? This Guitar left the shop completed mid 2006. Did Quality Control drop the ball? Such a beautiful guitar otherwise. I can't see Dana letting that leave. Opinions? My opinion is there was a bad batch of finish which bubbled popped and dried and QC either missed it (Which would be next to impossible) or never checked the back of this one particular guitar. |

One more reason to epoxy pore fill... Surprising, too, as I believe Dana undercoats with polyester. But if you use a rosewood sealer under poly, it can shrink down into the grain even as the poly is cured. I doubt you were seeing popped bubbles as that becomes a total disaster. |
