My wife and I are heading to Nashville next week for the last show of Nickel Creek's Farewell For Now tour... Does anyone happen to know if they do factory tours at the Gibson plant there in Nashville?

Hey Jon,
I've been to the "factory" in Nashville but didn't do any tours. I believe the real factory is the one on Beale in Memphis.

Go to this link for tours:

The Nashville site was actually in the Opryland Mall store - it had big glass windows where I saw only mandolins being made. But I was only there for a short while, maybe its bigger than I thought.

Hope this helps.

Check this link out... it looks like Memphis is the only tour.

They have pics from a factory tour in Nashville on their website, and apparently the Travel Channel did an episode of Made in the USA at that plant. I have a buddy from Nashville that might know some folks at Gibson so I think he's checking into it for me.

My wife and I go to Nashville, and in particular Opry Mills Mall quite a bit. If I recall correctly, the "factory" in the mall only makes Mandolins and Banjos. I think they do small tours.

There are a couple more locations east of Nashville. The electric guitar plant on Massman Drive and the Custom art and historic on Elm Hill Pike. They are only about a mile apart.

Check this

The electric guitar plant was the one I wanted to tour for sure, thanks for the tip on the Custom shop. I don't know if I'll be able to arrange anything or not. My buddy in Nashville is a music industry type so he's asking around to see if he can arrange something.

I'm sure we'll go see the Opryland showcase thing, but that's pretty touristy from what I've heard and I think they just do mandos and dobros.

If anything, maybe we'll stop at the plant in Memphis for one of the hourly tours on Sunday afternoon on our drive home to Arkansas.

The best tours are of the Custom Shop. the best time to go is when they have their annual party/tour. You can contact Kelly at

Kellywilson@gibson.com she will fill you in on all tour info. She's the one who organizes it all.
