Here is a shot of Zemaitis holding both his wife and the inspirational guitar. Zemaitis lived from 1935 til 2002 and built quite a reputation in England and the US as well.


Here is the my version of a Zemaitis OM'ish guitar.

But what's up with that inlay?
I mean it's wonderfully executed, perfectly done, and yeah Harvy is a master, blah blah, but there's not a single FISH on that thing???

The headstock inlay is almost ready for routing, it's fully cut.

Seriously, the guy I built this for took the initiave to have the inlay done before the top and peghead overlay was even sent to me. You know you're my favorite inlay artist.

I am seriously just kidding around! Harv's work is awesome. If I wanted to get an inlaid guitar where I didn't have the time I would have him do it. Him or Grit, but Grit doesn't do any guitars but his own..

John K., I really like this body shape. You said OMish? Is this your design? I've seen a few very similar, but it has a certain look I like a lot.

That body shape was designed just for this guitar, though I now have made two with that shape. It is like an OM in general demensions but with curves in different places. I call it my west coast model. This guy I made this guitar for was pretty clear about what he wanted and pushed me to be creative. That's a good thing. There was a lot of time spent in the design phase. I bet we had 15 bridge prototypes.

Very nice John, Your setting a pretty high standard there. Harvey leach did the inlay huh. He lives not too far from me, one of these days I'll have to try and look him up. I love the headstock trim and the little ditty at back side of the butt. I'm getting ready to start a small guitar with a redwood top myself using some cocbolo for the back.

Wow John, what a great guitar! I want to know how you did the rosette? Did you inlay the entire rosette just like any other inlay? Boy that looks like a lot of work. Great job!
