I'm thinking about trying a brushed lacquer and am curious how much you would thin it? It seems too thick right out of the can. I figured if I thinned it out a bit it would go on smoother with less sanding and touchup work required later. What do you all think? Cheers! John |

Don't know how applicable this is to brushing, but I thin my initial lacquer coats 30% and the final end coats at 50%. Gives good flow out from a spray gun...try a sample at these rates to see how it works for you and your brush. |

I usually spray McFaddens straight from the can and sometimes thin it with Butyl Acetate if it isn't flowing well, at a maximum of 20%, per McFaddens suggestions. Adding retarder will aid the flow out time but will also increase the drying time. |
