Congratulations on the L-N!! I've been considering something similar. I'm curious as to the difference between the low angle model and the #7 & #8 models which are standard angles. The price on the model you settled on is certainly much more attractive.

Also, I'd be interested in a description of your setup to do the jointing you describe. Post pics if you can.

Michael,

Way to go! I have been looking at the L-N planes, and thinking about getting one in the near future. I have heard so many good things about them.

Where did you get yours? Did you shop for best price, or?

Jeff

Thanks Michael...sounds like an effective setup. I must have one of those planes! It's a lot cheaper than a jointer and probably more versatile for my needs.

I saw a similar price from the link that Don posted in the other thread. I have been wanting a #7 myself. The #8 is $100 more! I hate using my jointer for tops/backs seems like the plane does it quicker and better. Could you imagine if you ever dropped the thing?...I would be heart broken. But then again like HDL says... that puppy is a dream come true! Man here goes the last of my tax return prep earnings! You guys realy have to stop this stuff! Bruce can you help get this off of here!? Anyone got tape? JUST KIDDING! It's a joke... lighten up...can't we all just get along

I shoulda bought more Lie Nelson planes before the collectors convinced him to double his prices. My scrub plane is a nice plane, but it ain't worth 145 bucks. Cost me $65

The low angle jointer is the same way, wasn't that many years ago he sold it for $140.
