I have had some wood up on a shelf in my workroom for just about a year now and I just found out I had a problem.
I used some plain pine (my mentor says its Fir) for stickers and the bottom two spruce boards are absorbing something orange (pitch?) from one of the stickers. These aren't sanded to thickness yet so I'm hoping it will all come right but I was thinking that any other newish builders might learn from my mistake.
I will be checking more often, I know.

Most of my stickers are made from scraps of 1/2" birch plywood. No sap and the are all a very accurate 1/2" thick.

I think mine are plywood... I'll have to go check. Thanx for the heads up.

Said it before, I'll say it again...

....melamine covered particle board. One sheet, cut into 1" strips will sticker everything you own, and your neighbor's stack.

Don't want tom buy a sheet and rip it up? Find a cabinet maker or shop, and talk to the table saw guy. He'll point you to the box with the off cust. Every sheet comes one inch oversize, so the first thing they do is clean up the edges by ripping off an inch or so, and the6y toss these away. Stickers!

The plastic melamine coating doesn't stain anything, they are uniforme in thickness and still. Can't ask for a better sticker.
